Resourceful Sharing: Co-usable Innovation and Learning Environments (JAVIST)

The Resourceful Sharing: Co-usable Innovation and Learning Environments (JAVIST) project strengthens business opportunities for companies in the education and learning services sector.

The JAVIST project brings together the expertise of multiple actors to develop shared learning and RDI environments.

The main goal of the project is to enhance the business potential of companies that offer services, products, and technologies for various learning and innovation spaces. These spaces can be either physical or virtual. The project increases understanding of the added value that shared spaces and related operational models offer to companies, research and educational organizations, cities, and end users such as learners and teachers.

The sharing economy and smart use of resources support goals related to responsibility and sustainable development.

The project consists of four sub-projects coordinated by:

  • University of Helsinki (main coordinator)
  • Aalto University
  • Aalto University Campus & Real Estate (ACRE)
  • City of Helsinki

New business opportunities

Through the project, companies have the opportunity to advance their business by means of co-development between RDI organizations, cities, and end users. The project creates conditions for companies to succeed also in international markets. To support ecosystem development, coaching and peer activities are also offered.

The project has defined various experimentation and development platforms that provide companies with opportunities to pilot new collaboration models and technological solutions through concrete development pilots based on real user experiences.

The Helsinki subproject develops the city’s learning environments into experimentation platforms that enable the emergence of new innovations and the growth of business activities. It is implemented in collaboration between the City Executive Office’s Economic Development Division (Business Helsinki) and the Division of Education. In addition to companies, the project involves learners, teachers, as well as pedagogical and spatial experts from the city.
