Open Call: EdTech Pilots in Universities of Applied Sciences in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area

Helsinki-area universities of applied sciences are offering EdTech companies a chance to test and refine their solutions in authentic learning environments through short, free pilot projects.

EdTech company, join us to pilot and develop new learning solutions in an authentic learning environment. We enable collaboration between companies and universities of applied sciences in a new way. The universities of applied sciences in the Helsinki metropolitan area now serve as a testbed for EdTech innovations: companies have the opportunity to co-develop products or services suitable for the education sector together with a university of applied sciences.

What does the testbed offer to EdTech companies?

We invite EdTech companies of all sizes and at different stages of development to participate. In particular, we hope to include pilots that bring novelty value or generate useful insights for the development of teaching and learning. Suitable pilots may include, for example, various VR solutions, simulations, and tools supporting learning.

We offer companies the opportunity to test the suitability of their product or service in the university of applied sciences sector, even if they have not previously worked within the education field. At the end of the pilot, companies will receive a reference that can be used as part of their marketing. Collaboration with a university of applied sciences also brings credibility and visibility internationally.

Who are the solutions developed for?

The target groups for the pilots are students and teachers at the university of applied sciences.

Pilots tailored to company needs

The activities follow a company-oriented Easy Access Co-Development (EAC) model, which enables collaboration between the company and the university of applied sciences to begin quickly and with minimal effort. Barriers to cooperation are minimized, bureaucracy is reduced, and partners can begin working together without delay.

The operating model is highly flexible and adapts to the needs of companies and the opportunities offered by the university of applied sciences.

Collaboration in a nutshell

The pilot lasts 1–2 months unless otherwise agreed and is implemented as part of the courses at the universities of applied sciences. Participation is free of charge for companies, and the collaboration is designed to support teaching. The processing of personal data is not permitted, and the pilot does not generally lead to procurement. Company representatives will have the opportunity to observe teaching and everyday activities at the universities of applied sciences.
