DATASTEP – Growth from Data Economy in Uusimaa
DATASTEP accelerates the growth and internationalisation of SMEs by developing companies’ ability to utilise data.

The DATASTEP – Growth from Data Economy in Uusimaa project addresses challenges related to data availability and usability that small and medium-sized enterprises face when developing new business. Companies will gain access to a broad selection of national and European test infrastructures that enable the testing and development of data-driven solutions.
Improving opportunities to leverage data will help accelerate the growth and internationalisation of SMEs. The project will produce an online guide to European data spaces, a compilation of data economy support services, and a validated customer guidance model for the use of companies and RDI actors. In addition, the project will organise data business training for SMEs, webinars on data economy themes, and the Data as an Engine for Growth in Uusimaa festivals in 2026 and 2027.
A key objective of DATASTEP is to increase SMEs’ data competence and to offer companies the opportunity to assess their own data maturity. By training RDI actors, DATASTEP strengthens their expertise in EDIH services and the available resources, enabling them to advise and support companies more effectively. In the longer term, the project will strengthen the capacity of companies and RDI actors in the Uusimaa region to leverage the data economy as a source of competitiveness and growth.
