Various delivery pilot projects in Jätkäsaari, Helsinki, in the autumn

In autumn 2021, Helsinki saw various pilot projects both on the ground and in the air. The newest kind of pilot was the delivery of products from a pharmacy to a customer by drone, which took place in late August. In the week-long pilot, products from the Lauttiksen Apteekki pharmacy in the Lauttasaari district were flown on a drone to the Jätkäsaari district.

New energy for teaching music

The Digital School of Arts wanted to test and co-develop its new teaching materials in comprehensive education, and the testing platform of Helsinki provided an excellent opportunity for this. The Digital School of Arts is a new digital platform for art education online. It is based on course content in video format, which was tested by teachers of primary schools.

Using 360 live video and augmented reality in event production

The City of Helsinki is seeking new innovations in event operations with its partners Helsinki XR Center, Fullsteam Agency and Elisa. By using new technology, we wish to find ways to enrichen the comprehensive event experience of visitors.

The new Helsinki Education Hub turns learning and education ideas into innovations

Helsinki will open a new Helsinki Education Hub on 23 September. The learning and education sector is growing globally and Helsinki Education Hub wants to promote the growth of entrepreneurship in learning and education technology. The aim is to combine learning and education start-ups, Finnish pedagogical know-how and academic research in order to generate new innovations, promote entrepreneurship in the field of educational technology and create new business. At the same time, we want to make Helsinki a capital of learning.

New innovative teaching materials created for supporting children’s language development

COVID-19 prompted Kipinä Center to innovate new ways to carry out customer work, and funding granted by Business Finland facilitated the beginning of a product development journey towards the creation of the new Kippin Early Language Learning materials. The new learning materials were co-developed by utilising the Easy Access Co-Development operating model of the City of Helsinki’s Economic Development Division and Education Division.

Robot to sweep street dust in Helsinki quietly and without emissions at night

The agile pilot involves testing ways to clean the streets of the residential area in a manner that hinders the residents’ everyday life as little as possible and without emissions in the Jätkäsaari district of Helsinki. Pilot is organized by Trombia company, Helsinki City Construction Services (Stara), and Helsinki City innovation company Forum Virium Helsinki.

Companies and RDI actors can recommend their own solution to the City of Helsinki for testing. We review proposals on a regular basis and aim to respond to them as soon as possible. The proposals are treated with confidentiality.
