Health check in five minutes: pilot testing of the MedicubeX eHealth station continues

The testing of the MedicubeX self-check station in an authentic health centre environment has benefited patients, medical staff and the company. The success story continues.

Better sound environment and more verdure with green walls

The green noise barriers delighted city dwellers in downtown Helsinki during the summer of 2023. The goal of the multidisciplinary experiment was, among other things, to improve comfort and reduce noise pollution. The results highlight the many benefits of green walls as part of urban space.

The innovation challenge of the circular economy cluster introduced five new solutions to be tested

In September, Helsinki’s circular economy cluster program and Motiva Services launched an innovation challenge, seeking new solutions to speed up circular economy within construction. A total of 13 companies presented their pilot project proposals during the demo day on 4 December.

Industrial metaverse was experimented with in Suomenlinna

New winds are blowing at the historic Suomenlinna: a robot dog successfully created a 3D model in a challenging environment, in a tunnel connecting the island and the mainland. Testbed Helsinki provided an opportunity to learn about the automatic modeling done by the robot dog.

Hyperlocal weather forecast as a tool for saving energy in buildings

Buildings account for roughly one third of all energy consumption. Testing will show whether Vaisala’s hyperlocal weather forecasts could develop modern building maintenance engineering in Helsinki and achieve significant savings.

Safer traffic through innovations

Electric scooters are a popular means of transport in Helsinki, but their safety has sparked debate. Can new technologies be used to improve riding behaviour and detect needs for developing the infrastructure? The results of our three-month test period are promising.

A city as a test platform?

Companies and RDI actors can recommend their own solution to the City of Helsinki for testing. We review proposals on a regular basis and aim to respond to them as soon as possible. The proposals are treated with confidentiality.
